The climate at the Isle of Elba is the typical mediterranean sea climate, with really mild temperatures, even during the winter.
Rainy days are generally quite rare, especially during the summer.
The main wind is called Scirocco (blowing from South-East), which almost never blows hardly, which during the summer alternates in the afternoon with the Maestrale (blowing from North-West), which is cooler and makes the days spent at the sea less hot and more pleasant.
On the other side, the Libeccio (South-West) and the Ponente (West), even if less common, considerably move the sea when they blow.
The ferry links with the continent are very seldom interrupted due to the bad weather, once or twice in a year and almost never for the whole day. Tramontana (blowing from the north) and Grecale winds (blowing from North-east), which are very cold, are almost non-existent; they can blow from time to time during some winter days; anyway, due to the peculiar coast shape, the isle has always got some point against any wind.
